Stipendium Hungaricum

The Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship programme was established by the Hungarian Government in 2013 to promote the internationalisation of the Hungarian higher education and to attract top students from all around the world. Scholarship holders have an opportunity to not only receive high-quality eduction in the heart of Europe but also experience an exciting student life in an intercultural environment. Besides, two-way mobility allows Hungarian students to spend a part of their study period in partner countries.

When the graduates return to their home countries with marketable skills and knowledge, they can build civil, political and economic relationships, contributing to Hungary’s image and recognition abroad.

Currently nearly 70 sending partners are engaged in the programme on 5 different continents, and the geographical scope of the programme is spreading each year.

Provisions covered by the scholarship

  • Tuition-free education – exemption from the payment of tuition fee
  • Monthly stipend
    • For Bachelor’s, Master’s level: HUF 43,700 (cca EUR 110)
    • For Doctoral level:
      • HUF 140,000 (cca EUR 365) for the first 4 semesters
      • HUF 180,000 (cca EUR 470) for the second 4 semesters
  • Accommodation contribution – free dormitory place or a contribution of HUF 40,000/month to accommodation costs
  • Medical insurance – health care services according to the relevant Hungarian legislation

Stipendium Hungaricum Dissertation Scholarship

Stipendium Hungaricum Dissertation scholarship is available for doctoral students, who have obtained their pre-degree certificate, but have not yet received their doctoral degree. The scholarship is awarded in case if it is an absolute necessity for a student to stay in Hungary to complete their doctoral activity.

The duration of the Stipendium Hungaricum Dissertation Scholarship lasts for the number of awarded months, but no later than the calendar month of the public defense of the thesis (maximum 8 months). Hungarian Diaspora Scholarship

The Hungarian Diaspora Scholarship was established by the Hungarian Government for those who live in a Hungarian diaspora outside of Europe and wish to study at a Hungarian higher education institution to develop their personal, professional and cultural relations to Hungary.

The programme aims to support the professional advancement of the scholarship holders with high-quality Hungarian higher education while improving their Hungarian language skills and strengthening their Hungarian identity. After graduation, scholarship holders return to their home country with competitive skills and knowledge that enables them to support their community, preserve Hungarian values and reinforce the relations between the diaspora and Hungary.

Provisions covered by the scholarship

  • Tuition-free education – exemption from the payment of tuition fee
  • Medical insurance – health care services according to the relevant Hungarian legislation
  • Monthly stipend (upon request):
    • For Bachelor’s, Master’s level: HUF 43,700 (cca EUR 110)
    • For Doctoral level:
      • HUF 140,000 (cca EUR 365) for the first 4 semesters
      • HUF 180,000 (cca EUR 470) for the second 4 semesters
  • Accommodation contribution (upon request) – free dormitory place or a contribution of HUF 40,000/month to accommodation costs
  • Travel contribution (upon request) - one-occasion travel allowance of HUF 330,000 (cca EUR 860), if the distance between Budapest and the applicant’s city of origin is minimum 8,000 km

Erasmus+

Erasmus+ is the program aimed at promoting educational and cultural exchange among students. The program allows students to spend 3-12 months studying in any EU country and some countries outside the European Union: Norway, Iceland, Turkey, Lichtenstein, and Macedonia. Besides, graduates have an opportunity to take part in a traineeship in one of the companies in a participating country following the year of graduation. Currently, more than 4000 higher education instiutions based in 33 countries are involved in the program, and since the establishment of Erasmus+ in 1987, more than 2.2 million students have already enjoyed this exciting intercultural experience.

Provisions of the programme:

Erasmus+ grant as a contribution to students’ travel and subsistence costs (may vary according to the destination country, number of students applying for the grant, distance between countries and other factrs)

University of Pannonia's Scholarship for International Students

University of Pannonia announces its scholarship program titled "Scholarship for International Students", which offers an opportunity to financially support you during your studies.

What do we offer?

  • Up to 300,000 HUF/semester scholarship support
  • The scholarship is available for a maximum of 30 students per semester
  • The support will assist you in completing your studies and obtaining your degree

How to apply?

  1. Check if you meet the application requirements
  2. Fill out the application form available in the Neptun system
  3. Remember: applications submitted by October 15 for the fall semester, and March 15 for the spring semester will be considered, after completing two closed semesters, you can apply for the scholarship.

Why should you apply?

We reward your outstanding academic performance financially. We assist you in successfully completing your education and remaining a student at Pannon University.

  • Bachelor's level: 110.000.- HUF/ semester
  • Master's degree: 185.000.- HUF/ semester
  • for doctoral studies: HUF 300.000.- HUF/ semester

The aim of the competition is to provide financial support for students with a weighted grade point average of at least 3.00 to continue their studies. The University of Pannonia is open to full-time foreign students of all foreign-language bachelor, master and doctoral programmes, who are studying full-time at the University of Pannonia and who are self-financed, and whose student status at the University will be established in September 2023 or afterwards.

The scholarship is available from the second active semester following enrolment. Scholarship support is available for a maximum of one semester. The same student may submit a new application for the following semester.

An international student who:

  • be a student with active status at the time of application, and
  • have completed the semester preceding the application with a grade point average of at least 3.00 in his/her current programme, and
  • have completed at least 90% of the total credits required by the model curriculum on a pro rata temporis basis.

Applicants must also have a bank account number registered in the Neptun system with a Hungarian financial institution, must not be in debt to the University and must be an active student in the semester of the award.

The application must be submitted in Neptun using the application form designed for this purpose.

Deadline for submission of applications:

  • Autumn semester: 15 October.
  • Spring semester: 15 March.

Deadline for the decision on the application:

  • autumn semester: 15 November.
  • Spring semester: 15 April.

Applications submitted will be assessed by a committee composed of the Deputy Dean of Education and the Director of Education, the Foundation for University of Pannonia’s Operating Director or, in his absence, any Trustee.

There is no possibility of submitting a reserve application. The Committee will rank applications that meet the eligibility criteria on the basis of the average academic average and the number of credits obtained. In the case of a tie, the final ranking of the applicant will be based on the number of credits obtained.
