The University of Oulu is an international science university that creates new knowledge, well-being and innovations for the future through research and education. The University of Oulu, founded in 1958, is one of the largest and most multidisciplinary universities in Finland.

Students and academics conduct research in five major areas: sustainable materials and systems, lifelong health, digitalization and smart society, changing climate and northern environment and understanding humans in change. The institution supports collaborative relationships with local and international partners for the benefit of the common well-being.
