The objectives of the program are to train students in literature and culture, transmit comprehensive knowledge of German language, literature and culture, as well as to develop special skills and abilities related to the culture of the German speaking countries.

The objectives of the program are to train students in literature and culture, transmit comprehensive knowledge of German language, literature and culture, as well as to develop special skills and abilities related to the culture of the German speaking countries. Acquiring their knowledge in linguistic, literary and cultural sciences, our trainees will be able to fulfil language transmission tasks in public administration as well as in numerous fields of the cultural life.

Specialization
The MA program can be completed with the intercultural German studies: linguistic specialization, of which subjects have been included in the curriculum.

Semester 1: Conceptual Systems, Methods and Applications of Diachronous Linguistics; Conceptual Systems, Methods and Applications of Synchronous Linguistics; Tendencies and Methods of Literary Science; Literature, Culture, Mediality; Translation as Cultural Transmission; Current trends in German linguistics, Morphology and Syntax; German Drama and Theatre; Contemporary German Culture; German-Hungarian Cultural Relations;

 

Semester 2: Lexicology and Phraseology; Pragmalinguistics; Narratives, Narratology; The German Short Story; Interpretation of Lyrical Texts; Cultural Science, Intercultural German Studies; Intercultural Communication; Introduction to the Methodology of Intercultural Research; Language Policy: the German Language in Europe; Linguistic Project;

 

Semester 3: Problems of Interethnicity and Identity; Majorities and Minorities: the History and Culture of the Germans in Central, Eastern and South-eastern Europe; Language and Culture; The German novel; Sociolinguistics; Semantics; Thesis Paper sem. A;

Semester 4: Minorities in Hungary: Linguistic and Communicational Aspects; Bilingual Communication; German Sources in Hungary; Project seminar; Thesis Paper sem. B;
