Students who already have a BA degree in the humanities or social sciences and speak English at least at C1 level can apply to this two- or four-semester programme providing training in the different aspects - language, history, culture, politics, diversity - of American Studies.
This is a joint programme between the University of Pannonia and Nazareth College of Rochester, NY. Students have to accomplish most of their credits in the U.S. but may accomplish one semester at the University of Pannonia - these credits will be accepted as transfer credits by Nazareth College. The degree is awarded by Nazareth College.

Students are required to complete elective credits at Nazareth College (as identified below), to be determined in consultation with the program director. Electives must be completed in each of the following four areas: 1) American History; 2) Diversity in the American Experience; 3) Literature/Arts/Humanities; and 4) Contemporaty Society
American History:
· American history (survey course)

· American foreign policy after 1945
Diversity in the American Experience:
· Immigration and minorities in the US
· The Irish-American community
· English-speaking cultures (survey course)
· Aspects of US intercultural communication

Contemporary Society:
· US history through documents
· Immigration and minorities in the US
· The Irish-American community
· American foreign policy
· The position of the US in the English-speaking world
· Present day America (hot issues)
· English-speaking cultures (survey course)
· Aspects of US intercultural communication
· US media
Literature, arts and the humanities:
· Language and cultural ideologies in English-speaking countries
· American English dialects
· American language policy
· Traditions in American literature (survey course)
· American Gothic
· American postmodernism
· American literary history 1-2

- BA in a study programme in the humanities or social sciences or at least 50 credits in subjects in English or American Studies
- Letter of motivation; score 121 or higher on internet-based TOEFL or equivalent on
other TOEFL exams, or 6.5 or higher on IELTS - Admissions interview (personally or possibly via Skype)
